Our client, a leading Midwest Real Estate Investment Management and Commercial Development Company, seeks its next President/CEO to lead the Company into its next phase of corporate life. The President/CEO will develop and execute the corporate strategy to ensure profitable growth while enhancing competitive cost position. The individual will be responsible for completing the transition of the Company to that of a private equity investment entity while embracing and championing the community goals of the firm.
Overall Leadership and Operations Management
Assume responsibility for all Company operations and ensure strategy, processes, procedures, and plans are in place to meet financial goals, develop strategic plans for approval of the Board of Directors, and implement same in an expeditious and efficient manner.
Ensure culture is consistent with firm core values and ensure internal and external communication is consistent with that culture.
Study markets, performance and seek future opportunities to advance the Company, its profits, and valuations.
Focus on perfecting the existing portfolio by leasing all empty space in office buildings, sell and lease land available for sale, all consistent with the transformation of the Company.
Work closely with development and finance officers to enhance performance and to expedite new developments and build-to-suit investments consistent with the strategy adopted.
Identify new investment and development opportunities, build the organization further to take advantage of the Company’s 50-year history, brand, and reputation for excellence.
Evaluate and determine disposition strategies of portfolio investments.
Develop and build relationships with appropriate financial institutions.
Construct the acquisition framework and staffing to secure investments in alternative entities to round out the sources of income and to position the enterprise for long-term success and growth.
Establish and implement efficient and high-performing leadership structure within the organization.
Manage, cause leadership effectiveness and make changes as necessary.
Lead effort to identify, develop and recruit talented leaders to fulfill future needs.
Identify key future leaders within the Company and allow them the opportunity to gain the experience and expertise to grow as future leaders.
Working with Chairman on Community Investment
Embrace the community investment strategy that has been developed, with an eye to positioning the Company long term as a force in community advancement and services as a core philosophy of the entity, i.e. “a corporation can be more than a financial enterprise”
Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
Experience or background in entities where commercial real estate, construction, and/or investment portfolio management is a significant component, i.e. property management, development, REIT MANDATORY
10+ years of experience leading a Company (or significant business unit) encompassing responsibility for full scope P&L (i.e. revenue, operations, and administration)
Achieving profitable business growth (top and bottom line)
Instilling / enhancing operational or process excellence
Assessing and managing executive talent
Bottom line leader with evident strategic and financial acumen, a business builder by nature
