Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller will lead the company’s Accounting Department which includes several Business Units that are supported by a centralized accounting operations function. The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading a team of accounting professionals with responsibilities for forecasting, job cost, the general ledger, tax, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, administration, and external audit relationships. The Controller interacts with the various companies, departments, and executives within Royal American.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead a team of accounting professionals with responsibilities for forecasting, job cost, the general ledger, tax, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, administration, and external audit relationships.
Own the financial close process and deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to facilitate critical decision making.
Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP.
Implement and maintain financial systems and controls consistent with Royal American’s policies and regulatory guidelines.
Partner with all departments and all applicable Royal American sister companies to implement policies, processes and systems that facilitate improved operational efficiency and financial controls.
Performs other related duties as required to meet company and corporate objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Proficient in accounting concepts
Financial statement preparation
Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Understand and willingness to work with modern technologies
Work with a computer for a minimum of seven hours daily either standing or sitting
Must be able to read printed materials and computer screen with or without MS or other software accessibility functions
Flexibility and ability to travel, sometimes on short notice – must have valid driver’s license
Work in an office environment for eight hours, daily
Communicate effectively face-to-face, by phone, email, Go-to-Meetings, Webinars, pre-recorded training sessions, through formal business writing, etc. with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
Bend, twist, climb stairs, sit, stand
Work requires high attention and mental demands including the ability to prioritize and process information with accuracy and clarity
Requires the ability to handle interruptions in a rapidly changing environment in an appropriate manner

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong GAAP knowledge, CPA preferred (but not required)
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar role with demonstrated success.
Property Management and/or Construction background preferred
Sage Timberline, Real Page, and Paycom experience a plus
