Opportunity Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA or equivalent.
Minimum 6-8 years in increasing accounting and management experience.
Minimum of 2-3 years of Big 4 audit experience required and 3-4 years of commercial real estate.
Minimum of 2 years working with publicly traded companies and/or REITs.
Strong leadership presence and people management skills.
Superior analytical and written and oral communication skills to effectively present to executive and senior management, supervisors, co-workers, direct reports and other departments.
Highly organized with superior attention to detail and to follow through assignments on a timely manner to meet internal and external reporting deadlines.
Continuous positive process improvement mindset and experience
Experience with accounting system implementations or data related projects a very significant plus.
Summary of Responsibilities The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Provide strategic oversight over the entire internal financial reporting and monthly close process, including adherence to US GAAP standards and internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley.
Lead the review of monthly/quarterly internal financial reports, certain areas of SEC filings, and collaborate significantly with our external Financial Reporting and FP&A teams to achieve reporting objectives.
Lead the preparation of accounting financial schedules and analyses for monthly operations meetings and quarterly earnings calls attended by Executive Management, Accounting, Leasing, FP&A, Development and Investments.
Present and interpret key financial metrics and operational results to Executive and Senior Management, highlighting trends and potential areas of concern.
Review and analyze complex technical accounting areas including but not limited to: lease accounting, lease modifications and terminations, acquisition and dispositions including review and approval of financial aspects including closing statements, valuations, and post-closing adjustments, ground leases, joint ventures, and same store property analysis.
Champion continuous improvement within the department by collaborating and taking initiative with the Chief Accounting Officer and SVP, Internal Reporting on the ERP data re-structuring project and other accounting and company-wide process improvement initiatives.
Joint Venture Management:
Assume direct responsibility for the financial reporting of three consolidated Joint Ventures, including quarterly conversions between US GAAP and IFRS.
Review and approve critical financial calculations such as minority interest, management fees, and cash flow analysis for informed decision-making within the ventures. Supervise the preparation and review of Joint Venture financial packages and financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards across both US GAAP and IFRS.
Work directly with the FP&A and Treasury teams in identifying when distributions to partners and capital calls are required.
Strategic Support:
Collaborate with the Investment Team by providing financial analysis and guidance during acquisitions and dispositions.
Collaborate with the Asset Management Team by providing financial and deal analysis.
Collaborate with FP&A on budgets, forecasts, and analyses of variances.
Work directly with our CFO and Chief Accounting Officer on a wide array of analyses and projects.
Other:
Special Projects related to continuous process improvement and other duties as assigned.

Foster collaboration: Cultivate a strong team environment, promote open communication and seamless collaboration between internal departments within accounting and throughout the Company.
Oversee, delegate and communication upwards: Work with external financial reporting team and other accounting department teams to develop shared goals and deadlines, proactively delegate, guide and assign tasks to your team, ensure timely, efficient and accurate completion of monthly/quarterly internal reports, SEC reporting schedules, and executive presentations. Keep senior members of accounting and finance teams regularly updated about progress.
Drive process improvement: Collaborate with the CFO, CAO, Accounting and FP&A teams to continue to improve and enhance the Company’s ERP data structure. Including but not limited to the financial close and quarterly reporting and quarterly earnings call preparation process, Executive, Senior Management, and operational department reporting.

Maintain high quality financial reporting and ethical standards: Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all financial reporting, adhering to US GAAP and IFRS standards and professional ethics.

Analyze financial results and coordinate with Financial, Planning and Analysis on forecasting and budgets.
Collaborate with the Investment Team on acquisitions and dispositions.
Collaborate with the Asset Management Team on various types of leasing deal analysis.
Craft insightful reports and present to Executive and Senior Management.
Assume responsibility for the accounting and reporting for three fully consolidated Joint Ventures.
